Fern: Junior, are we almost at your house now?
Junior: Fern...
Fern: You didn't answer my question.
Junior: We should be there any minute now, Fern.
Indigo: Yeah, Fern.
Sharp: Indigo...
Fern: Yeah, Indigo. Or should I say, my little Indi?
Indigo (blushing): My Granny is just a little on the old side now, and still thinks of me as a baby.
Sharp: Guys, enough. Junior, is this your house? Points to a small blue house in the distance.
Junior: Yeah, that's it. C'mon.

They all walk up to the house and Junior rings the doorbell.

Junior's mom: Hello?
Junior: Hi. It's me, mom. Junior. There's something we need to tell you.
Junior's mom: My son left hours ago. *sniff* He'd come home by now... something awful must've happened to him. The police are looking for him. *sniff*
Junior: Mom, it's me! Junior Eustace Sybil!
Junior's mom: I'm sorry young boy, but I'm afraid Junior won't come back. *sniff* Slams the door in his face.
Fern: Eustace?
Junior: Fern! Can't you just leave me alone?!?
Fern: Looks down. I'm sorry, Junior.... I-I didn't mean to... Look, if it makes you feel any better, you can stay at my place.
Junior: Okay, I'm sorry that I exploded on you like that...
Fern: It's me who should be sorry...
Indigo: I'd hate to brake up this care-fest, but we better get some rest. Sorry, Junior... about what just happened.
Junior: It's okay...
Sharp: If there's anything we can do to help...
Junior: It's fine...

So the friends parted ways for the day. Fern leads Junior down a long winding path that led to a field.

Fern: ...and then we just go past this field, and it's down over to the left, where the woods get thin.
Junior: Thanks for letting me stay with you, Fern.
Fern: Looks down. Listen, Junior, just don't expect royalty or anything. My house is, well... see for yourself. Points to a small shack-looking house with two windows in the front. Go ahead. Laugh.
Junior: I don't think it's funny.
Fern: Really? Well, come in. Opens the door. A burly man with an oily mustache and ratty clothes walks forward.
Man: Hi, Fern.
Fern: Hi, Uncle Caleb. Junior, this is my Uncle Caleb.
Junior: Pleased to met you, uh... sir.
Uncle Caleb: Nonsense! Call me Uncle!
Junior: Uh, okay... Hello, Uncle, I'm Junior Sybill.
Uncle: Hi, Junior. Fern, why in the name of Sam Heck did you bring Junior here? Why are you home so late?
Fern: Whispers to Caleb. Uncle, he needs to stay with us tonight. Just tonight. He's going through hard times.
Uncle: Oh, fine. Just be good and don't make me regret it.
Junior: Thanks.
Fern: I'll show you my room. Leads him to a small room with a single bed in it and a small dresser. This is it. Small, I know. We're kinda poor.
Junior: C-can I ask you something?
Fern: Sure.
Junior: If that's your uncle, then where ar your parents?
Fern: Looks down. They're dead...
Junior: I'm so sorry. What happened to them?
Fern: It happened when I was six, we were pretty much rich... and when they died... I don't want to talk about i right now, okay? We should get to bed. There's some blankets in the dresser, you can make a bed on the floor. Sorry we don't have any spare beds, money is getting tight.
Junior: It's fine. I'm glad your uncle didn't say anything about this bag on my head.
Fern: Yeah well, good night.
Junior: Good night...

The next morning...

Fern: Junior... Junior... Junior, wake up!
Junior: What... huh? Wakes up. Why'd you wake me up?
Fern: We have to go to Hazel's, remember? It's almost noon and we're still here!
Junior: What's the matter? What's the rush?
Fern: ...
Junior: Fern?
Fern: Look, Uncle is...
Junior: Uncle is what?
Fern: Well, let's just say he isn't too happy when I leave. It takes time to tell him things, or he won't let me go... It's complicated. He treats me like dirt, ya know.
Junior: Is there something wrong with him?
Fern: Yeah, he's a heavy drinker.
Junior: Oh...
Fern: Enough about that, we have to go! Now! Lifts up the window screen. Climb out. Careful, there are thorn bushes.
Junior: Climbs out window and lands headfirst in a thorn bush. OW!!!!!
Fern: Jumps out and grabs a small suitcase. Hey, don't say I didn't warn you. Takes a baseball cap out of the suitcase and puts it on her head.
Junior: You like the Lopan Bunters? I love them, they're my favorite team!
Fern: Yeah! My favorite player was Bob Sagimagi.
Junior: He's awesome! It's too bad he retired.
Fern: They say he became a professional sky diver. Now, let's go. Hazel said to get there by sunset, and it's almost noon!
Junior: Okay, but are you sure you know where you're going?
Fern: Hazel said to go north till you get to the brook, then follow it up to the Witchy Forest. They'll be a house in the middle where the brook loops around. We've been there before, anyway.
Junior: Oh, right... Walks to the Witchy Forest with Fern and successfully finds Hazel's house.
Fern: Well?
Junior: Well what?
Fern: Aren't you going to knock on the door?
Junior: Why do I have to knock on the door?
Fern: Because you're the one with the problem!
Junior: Oh, right. Knocks on the door.
