SuperSei
Chapter #01 - Chaos
Written by: CS-Masyet

"Long ago, The Creator created four guardians to protect the land. Three of them did their jobs right, but one wanted to use his power to rule the world. The evil guardian gathered up so much power that the three other guardians had to combine their strength just to seal him away."

Our teacher had said that like she had repeated it hundreds of times. She probably had, actually.

"Now Sei, will you continue the reading? ... Sei? Sei!"

"Oh! What?" I said, not competely focused.

"Pay attention! Continue the reading!"

"S-sorry... Um, what page are we on?"

All the students burst into laughter. The teacher just sighed. "Page 32, Sei."

"R-right..."

It's not like I don't want to pay attention, I just have trouble focusing on things. And everyone in my class knows that, yet they still make fun of me for it. Because of this, I don't have any friends. Even the teacher hates me.

"Because they had to use so much power, the three guardians could no longer roam freely in this world. Even to this day, they remain guarding the seal."

"Teacher!" A student interrupted. "Will the guardians run out of power?"

"Let Sei continue reading."

"However, they won't be able to guard it forever." I read. "So people with high spiritual power have been gathered to fight the evil guardian when the time comes."

"Teacher!" Another student interrupted. "What's spiritual power?"

"We've been over this already." The teacher sighed again. "Spiritual power is a power that Guardian Maira has given to every living creature. Everyone has it, but the amount everyone has is different. It's the only known thing that can harm the evil guardian."

"Sei probably doesn't have any."

Everyone started laughing again. Kuda was the one who said that. He's more mean to me than everyone else combined. He's really popular for some reason; I think he's a jerk.

"Enough! Another outburst like that and all of you are staying after school!"

This of course quieted down the class.

"We'll have a 15 minute break for lunch, then we'll continue the reading. There won't be any more interruptions, understood?"

"Yes, ma'am..." The whole class said in unison.

"Alright, put your books awa--..." The ground started shaking. "Everyone, it's a quake! Get underneath your desks!"

Everyone did as they were told. We actually had a lot of these, so I was used to it. This one lasted longer than usual, though.

"Teacher, is the seal braking?"

"We have these all the time. It's nothing to worry about." The teacher said comfortingly.

I'm still a little worried, though...

After that, everyone gathered around for lunch like the quake never happened. As usual, I was eating alone. However, this time was different...

"That was some shake, huh Sei?"

"S-Sari..." That was all I could muster.

Sari was the only one in my class who was nice to me. She's really kind and pretty, and I like her a lot. I heard some of the others say that she was going out with that jerk Kuda though. I hoped they were just rumors...

"What's wrong? Still have aftershocks?"

"N-no, I'm used to the quakes."

"Yeah, me too. I wish they'd stop though. What do you think makes those quakes, anyway?"

"D-don't know." I said, wondering why she was talking to me. "Why do you even bother..."

"Bother what?" Sari asked.

"D-did I just say that out loud?!"

"Hey Sari, quit talking to that loser and get over here." Kuda yelled from across the room.

"U-uh... Sorry Sei, see you later." She said to me, then walked over to Kuda's table.

I sighed.

I guess the rumors are true after all...
