Super Sleuth Aster
Chapter #00 - Prologue

Aster
Long ago, there was a famous and great detective in Scautry. His name was Flash Lite. Any case he took, he was able to solve. However, a strange case arose, one that even he couldn't figure out. He disappeared afterward, leaving the case unsolved. No one has heard from him since.
That was three years ago.
I am Aster, 17 years old. Being a big fan of Detective Lite and his work, I wanted to be just like him. When he disappeared, it made me want to be a detective even more, in hopes that I could solve the case he couldn't. Maybe then... he would return.
Day: March 23 (Sunday) / Time: 15:05 / Location: Detective Station
The station was much smaller and quieter than I expected it to be. Not only that, there were no detectives in right now. It seemed deserted, like no one had been here in ages.
"Hello? Is anyone here?" I said, just to make sure. Nothing.
At that moment, you could've dropped a rubber band and heard it hit the floor.
"Maybe it's a busy day. I guess I'll try some other time..."
I turned around to leave, but literally bumped into someone on the way out. "Oh, excuse me."
"I didn't think anyone would actually be in here."
The person standing before me was a rather large man; his age probably being somewhere in the mid 40's. At first I thought he might've been one the detectives, until I noticed he was wearing an officer's uniform.
"Unfortunately young man, there's nothing worth taking in here. So you should be on your way."
"What? No! I not a burglar!"
"Well, that's a relief. Then what are you here for, my boy?"
"I came to speak with the Head-Detective of this station."
"The Head-Detective?"
"Yes, I want to work here. As a detective."
He then started to chuckle, then burst into laughter.
"I'm sorry sir, but I don't see what's so funny." I said, partially offended.
"Ho ho ho..." He wiped his face, then cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, my boy. But there hasn't been a detective working here in over three years."
"What?! But how is that possible?!" Wait, three years...?
"After Detective Lite disappeared, all the other detectives lost the will to work and quit. This is just a place to store old records nowadays."
"But what people who need the help of detectives? What about their cases?!"
"That either handled by the police or detectives from other towns."
"I see..."
"Do you really want to become a detective that badly, young man?"
"Yes." I said firmly.
"Very well. I'll see what I can do."
"Thank you, sir."
"It looks like this place will finally be more than storage space once again. And it's thanks to you, um... What did you say your name was?"
"I didn't. I'm Aster Roid, 17 years old. I attend Scautry South High School."
"17? You're older than I thought."
"I'm a bit short for my age..."
"Well, Mr. Roid, my name's Hank Ovice. I am one of the head officers down at the precinct."
"A head officer? Really?"
"Indeed, my boy. And it only took me twenty years."
That's a long time...
"I hope you become a fine detective, young man. Then maybe the other detectives will return."
"Me too." Speaking of returning... "May I ask you something, sir?"
"Certainly, my boy."
"If you aren't a detective, what are you doing here?"
"Since no detectives come by anymore, it's my job to make sure this place is secure."
"How often?"
"Every week, on Saturday."
"But today's Sunday..."
"Well, I forgot to lock up yesterday, so I came back."
"Ah, I see..."
"You have anymore questions?"
"No, sir."
"Alright then. Come back here tomorrow afternoon and we will dicuss your work."
"Okay."
... And that is how I met Officer Ovice, and became a detective. I knew this job wouldn't be easy, but I was prepared to do my best!
