Ep.#05 - Dudley the Dud
Written by: CS-Masyet
Day: March 25 / Time: 11:30 / Location: Starr's House
After we saw the numbers of criminals on ther phone, I figured that phone must not have been hers after all. So we went to her house to see if we could find it.
Starr: "I'll try calling my phone with this one..."
"That's not a good idea; it's better we don't use that phone... I'll call it with mine instead. Give me your number." Starr gave me her number and I called her phone.
Starr: "I-I hear it! It's coming from my room!" We went in Starr's room.
"Your room is a mess..."
Starr: "Heh heh, sorry..." Starr finds her phone. "I found it! It was in my drawer. But I wonder how I got this other phone..."
"Starr, do you remember bringing your phone with you the night you met that guy?"
Starr: "Now that you mention it, I thought it was weird that I had my phone with me..."
"So, that's what happened..."
Starr: "Huh?"
"That guy wasn't trying to rape you at all. He was just trying to get his phone back."
Starr: "Oh no! Then should I give it back...?"
"Of course not!"
Starr: "Why not?"
"Remember the numbers we found in his phone? He might be a criminal!"
Starr: "Huh... Oh! The numbers in his phone! He might be a criminal!"
"I just said that!"
Starr: "Oh yeah, hee hee..."
"Jeez..."
Starr: "So, will that phone help us find that guy?"
"It can give us some information on him at least." I open the phone. "Hm..."
Starr: "I thought we weren't going to use it..."
"Not to call anyone; just to see what's in here... Oh, his name is here. Dudley... weird name..."
Starr: "Dudley? That name sounds sorta familiar..."
"Really? From where?"
Starr: "Hm... Ah, I know! Someone named Dudley transferred to our school! I think..."
"Let's see if we can get his school records. It'll help if he's the guy you saw that day!"
Day: March 25 / Time: 12:00 / Location: Scautry High School
Starr: "I wonder if the school is open now... Since it's Saturday..."
"Because of Saturday school it should still be open for a while."
Starr: "Oh yeah..." We go up to the front desk. "You're right, there's someone still here."
"I-it's Ms. Tic..."
Ms. Tic: "Hello Aster! It's been a while!" Ms. Tic has known me since grade school. And she's always treated me like I'm a little kid. It's very irritating.
"Has anyone by the name of Dudley transferred to this school?"
Ms. Tic: "Why do you need to know that?"
"I'm on an investigation right now."
Starr: "Aster is a detective!"
Ms. Tic: "Ho ho ho, aren't you a little young to be playing detective?"
"I'm not playing detective! I'm an actual one!"
Starr: "He's telling the truth! Look at this!" Takes out a newspaper from her pocket.
Ms. Tic: "Oh my! So you really are one..."
"Yes, that's what I've been saying..."
Ms. Tic: "Okay Mr. Detective, how can I help you?"
"Can I see Dudley's school records?"
Ms. Tic: "Sure, here you go." Gives me the records. "I'm not supposed to be doing this, so don't tell anyone."
"I won't..." I looked at the school records. "Alright, thanks." I give back the records.
Starr: "Well? Did the records help?"
"A lot. For one, Dudley is definitely the guy you keep on seeing at the beach."
Starr: "Really?"
"Yeah. And it also said where he lives on it, too. Now I can arrest him."
Starr: "A-arrest him?!?"
"For working with criminals, obviously."
Starr: "Wait, I want do it! I want to arrest him!"
"...maybe some other time..."
Starr: "Aw man..."
"Anyway, I have to call Ov-..." My phone starts ringing. "Hello?"
Ovice: "I got the print results for you! It's from some kind of rainboot."
"Rainboot?"
Ovice: "Yeah. Whoever made a print like this with a rainboot must've been pretty mad..."
"Hm, I see... Listen, could you do me a favor?"
Ovice: "Sure, what is it?"
"You see..."
Day: March 25 / Time: 12:15 / Location: Dudley's House
Starr: "Detective Aster... Hm..."
"What is it?"
Starr: "That souds kinda boring, doesn't it?"
"Huh?"
Starr: "I know! From now on, you'll be Detect-er Aster!"
"That doesn't make any sense... Anyway, let's go in."
Starr: "U-um... I'm kinda scared..."
"Why?"
Starr: "I'm afraid he'll try and rape me again..."
"I already told you, he just wanted his phone back."
Starr: "But the second time he even said he's was going to..."
"He probably just said that to distract you."
Starr: "Oh! That makes sense..."
"Anyway..." I rung the doorbell.
Dudley: "Who are yous?"
Starr: "Eep!" She hides behind me.
"Don't play dumb! You know very well who we are!"
Dudley: "I don' recognize yous..."
Starr: "Y-you're under arrest!"
"I told you not to do that!"
Dudley: "Under arrest? What yous talkin' about?"
"Does this look familiar?" Shows him the phone.
Dudley: "My phone! Why do you..."
"You met Starr last week on the beach. She crashed into you, making you drop your phone. She then took it by mistake, thinking the phone was hers."
Dudley: "So that girl is..."
"You tried to get the phone from her, but she ran away from you. You saw her run home, so you learned where she lives."
Starr: "Ah! He did?!? How do you know?"
"Because he tried to sneak into your house to get it back. Last Wednesday."
Starr: "Wednesday? Ah, so that guy was him too?!?"
Dudley: "Heh heh... If I really wanted my phone back, then why would I wait so long to go to her house? Huh?"
"Because you were still busy moving and doing paperwork for getting into the school."
Dudley: "Heh, yous got any proof?"
"It said so on your school record."
Dudley: "My... what?!?"
"For some reason your plan to go into her house didn't work, so you waited for her at the beach again on Friday. You pretended to rape her so you could search her. I'm guessing you had no luck then either. You even made a footprint in the rock-hard sand with a rainboot out of anger."
Dudley: "..."
"Well, am I right?"
Dudley: "...so what if yous are? All I wanted was my phone back! There's no need to arrest me for that..."
"Not under normal circumstances... however! There were certain numbers in your phone that I found... the numbers of criminals!"
Dudley: "U-um... those criminals jus' have the same names as my friends is all..."
"Wow, what a coincidence, considering there are 20 names!"
Dudley: "U-um... Fine, you're right. So what if I'm friends wit' criminals? You think anyone will believe you?"
Ovice: Comes from the back entrance. "Probably not, but they'll believe me."
Dudley: "N-NO!!!"
Starr: "A police officer! We were lucky, huh?"
"Actually, I called him here..."
Starr: "Oh..."
Ovice: "Good job Aster, we've been looking for this guy for a while. The man with over 20 criminal accomplices..." A bunch of police officers come to take him away.
"Wait, before you take him away, I still want to ask him something..."
Dudley: "What?"
"What stopped you from going into Starr's house on Wednesday?"
Dudley: "There was this vicious dog guardin' the entrance! I couldn't get in because I'm afraid of dogs! I gots dogophobia!"
"He's not talking about Spot, is he?"
Starr: "But Spot's not scary, he's just a cute little puppy!"
So the Crescent Beach case is finally solved... I wonder if any new cases will come in now. I hope they aren't as troublesome as this one... *sigh*
