The Sea Sprites
Ep.#01: The Child From The Ocean
Written by: CS-Masyet

A long time ago, there were creatures who lived in the ocean called Sea Sprites. They had the same intelligence as people and acted similar to them. However, Sea Sprites never liked to interact with people. In fact, the time people actually tried to communicate with them the Sea Sprites attacked them. They attacked so violently that the people had no choice but to get rid of them all. That is how the Sea Sprites became extinct; or so everyone thinks... \ One day, a boy named Mark and his mom found a little boy frozen in ice. Ever since then, his mom has taken care of him like her own son. She named him Tide, because that was the name increpted in his water-drop shaped necklace. She loved Tide very much, but she had a feeling that he was different. One day, Mark's mom got sick and died, so Mark had to take care Tide...

Tide: Sea Sprites... what interesting creatures...

Tide was reading a book about Sea Sprites in a library.

Mark: Are you reading that stupid book again, Tide?
Tide: It's not stupid!
Mark: Why are you so interested in Sea Sprites, anyway?
Tide: Because I think they're really interesting. They were like people except they lived in the ocean and they didn't make the same mistakes people have made...
Mark: Mistakes?
Tide: Like when they killed all of the Sea Sprites for no reason!
Mark: Um, didn't they do that because Sea Sprites attacked them?
Tide: But they must've had a reason...
?: Stop speaking nonsense, kid!

A man walked up to them.

Man: They were just reckless savages; they were nothing like us! Hahaha!
Tide: Hmph...
Mark: Let's just go Tide; you've caused enough trouble for one day, you ocean freak...
Tide: *glare*
Man: W-wait a second, what's that around your neck?

The man went closer to him to look at it.

Tide: Huh? It's just my necklace...
Man: That's no ordinary necklace, that's the key for the shrine! Where did you get that?!?
Tide: Shrine? You mean that Sea Sprite statue?
Man: Actually, that's a petrified Sea Sprite.
Mark: What?!? But I thought they were all dead!
Man: You don't have to worry, because as long as that key isn't used on the Sea Sprite it isn't going anywhere.
Tide: You mean I could free the Sea Sprite with my necklace?
Man: That's right; that's the only way.
Tide: Hmmm... *giggle*
Mark: Y-you're not thinking of...

Tide sprinted out the door of the library and headed for the shrine. Mark followed him.

Mark: T-Tide, stop!
Tide: (I'll show them! Don't worry Sea Sprite, I'll save you!)
Mark: TIDE!!! (That moron, he doesn't know what he's doing!)

Tide made it to the bridge that led to the shrine. He saw that Mark was following him, so he just swam across instead of taking the bridge (he's a really good swimmer).

Mark: No, I'll never make it! (Especially considering I'm a terrible swimmer...) TIDE!

Tide made it to the shrine, but Mark was still following him on the bridge.

Tide: There she is... so all I have to do is use this, and then she will be freed of petrification! Here goes...

Tide put the key through the hole on the stand the Sea Sprite was on.

Mark: Tide, stop! (NO!!!) *pant*

Mark fainted from exhaustion. But it was too late anyway; the Sea Sprite flashed, then returned to normal.

Tide: It worked...
?: You have finally returned, Tide. Thank you for freeing me from my previous state...
Tide: You're welcome, but what do you mean when you said "I have returned"? And how do you even know my name?
?: I think your own mother would know your name. After all, I'm the one who gave you that name, Tide.
Tide: Y-you're my m-mother?!? Then that means I'm... a Sea Sprite...
